Born on 20 Oct 1876 in Portishead, Somerset son of Rev. Robert and Mary Sackville (Neal) Lawson of Weston-in-Gordano, Somerset. Educated at Haileybury College 1891-93 and Peterhouse College, Cambridge (MA 1909). He married Janet Kathleen Trinder of "Margaretts", Haslemere, Surrey and had four children. He was a school teacher and Headmaster of Buxton College, Derbyshire 1911-1917.

Died of wounds received in action.
