Thomas George was born on 22 Jul 1899 in Essendon (baptised 1 Oct 1899 Essendon, Herts) to Thomas William Lawman and Emily (nee Scales).


On the 1901 Census the family of parents, Thomas G and William H (born1901) were living at Kentish Lane, Hatfield.


On the 1911 Census the family of parents, Thomas G, William, Emily Eliza (born 1903), Lilian Irene (born 1905), Walter Henry (born 1907) Charles (born 1909) and Constance May (born 1911) were living at Bentley Cottages, Quakers Lane, South Mimms.


Wartime Service

No Service record was found for Thomas. He was probably enlisted in 1916 and was given a service number of 55472 in the 18th Battalion Training Reserve. At an unknown date he was transferred to the Labour Corps as Private 549900.


Thomas died on 19 Nov 1918 at the General Military Hospital Colchester. Although Thomas has a commonwealth War Grave Headstone there is no corresponding Soldier die in the Great War record.


Additional Information

War Gratuity of £5 5s and arrears of £2 17s 1d was paid to his father.
