Pre War

Born on 8 Sep 1896 in Eaglescliffe, Durham son of Charles Sherriffe and Frances Ella Lane (later Mrs. Wolstenholme). Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1904-14 (Head of School) and Magdalene College, Cambridge.

Wartime Service

Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in Nov 1916 from the Cambridge University O.T.C and entered France in Jan 1917. He was reported missing in action at Cherisy and was last seen on his way to a dressing station wounded in both arms and one leg and was presumed to have died.
