Son of Edward and Eliza (nee HUNTLEY) JUDGE.

His parents married 2 October 1881 at All Souls, Hampstead, London.  They possibly moved to and died in Scotland.

Edward was born 13 January 1895 in Watford, and attended Beechen Grove Board School, Watford, from 13 January to 3 February 1903, and again from 11 January 1904 to 30 August 1910.  He resided in Watford.

On the 1901 Census, aged 6 he lived in Watford, with his parents and four siblings.  On the 1911 Census, at school aged 16, he still lived in Watford, with his parents and four siblings.

Wartime Service

He enlisted 3 September 1914 in Camberwell, Surrey, in the Territorial Force for four years: aged 19, 5’6½” tall, of Watford.  

He served at Home until 23 June 1916, when he embarked from Southampton with the B.E.F.  He was promoted Lance-Corporal 23 May 1917, was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was killed in action.
