His parents were Mr and Mrs Frank Jackson of the Crown Hotel, Bancroft, Hitchin. He was unmarried.


He owned a Fish and Poultry business at Muswell Hill in London, which he had to close when he joined the Army. 

Wartime Service

He was in ‘C’ Company in the 2nd Battalion of the Essex Regiment which was part of the 12th Brigade in the 4th Division of the 3rd Army.


Frank was reported missing having been lost in an attack on the Chemical Works near Roeux. Later a friend wrote from hospital to confirm that his death was caused by a shell.


He has no known grave and is remembered on Bay 7 of the Arras Memorial to the Missing in France.

Additional Information

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission show him as 'Frank Augustus Jackson’ and his Service Number was 35370.
