Benjamin Douglas Jack was the son of Benjamin James and Sarah Ann Jack and lived at Wilmington, Davies Street, East Malvern, Victoria.  He was a 20 year old student when he enlisted. His parents later lived at McGregor Avenue, Black Rock, Victoria.

Wartime Service

He enlisted on 24 August 1914 and served with the Australian Infantry, 5th Battalion, F Company as a 2nd Lieutenant. Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A3 Orvieto on 1 October 1914.


He was promoted to Major but was killed in action on 9 April 1918. 

Additional Information

His father, Mr B J Jack of McGregor Avenue, Black Rock, Victoria, Australia, ordered the inscription: "DULCE ET DECORUM EST PRO PATRI A MORI".
