Charles James Hunter was born around Nov 1893 in Hampstead, London to James Bernard Hunter (Mechanical Engineer) and Lydia (nee Whitaker). He attended Aldenham School.

Wartime Service

Charles joined Artist Rifles 28th Battalion London Regiment as Private 1949 and went with them to France on 29 Dec 14.


He was gazetted from London Regiment 28th (Artists Rifles) on 9 Jul 1915 and moved to 2nd Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment joining them 15 Aug 1915 in France. He was an Acting Captain while with Bedfordshires and later transferred to the Labour Corps, again as Acting Captain.


He died on 4 Nov 1918 at Cambridge and was buried in Highgate Cemetery London.
