Son of Arthur William and Eva Jane (nee LAWTON) HUNT of Watford.
His parents married 17 April 1897 at St Andrew’s, Watford. Arthur died 28 January 1947 in Watford aged 75, and was buried 31 January in North Watford Cemetery; Eva died 1958 in Watford aged 84, and was buried 6 January, also in North Watford Cemetery.
Arthur was born 21 May 1898 in Watford, and baptised 8 July 1898 at Christ Church, Watford. He attended first St Andrew’s Infants’ School, Watford; then Callowland Board School, Watford, from 10 January 1905 to 24 May 1912.
On the 1901 Census, aged 2 he lived in Watford, with his parents and one sibling. On the 1911 Census, at school aged 12, he still lived in Watford, with his parents and two siblings.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in London; was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was killed in action.
Additional Information
There is a brief article about and a Death announcement for Arthur in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 20 July 1918; plus an In Memoriam in the issue dated 28 June 1919.
Unfortunately, Arthur’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
