Pre War

Frances Louisa Hudson was born on 13 February 1897 in Langleybury, Hertfordshire, the daughter of Arthur and Caroline Hudson and one of four children. She was baptised on 9 May 1897 at Langleybury.


On the 1901 Census the family were living at Langleybury where her father was working as a railway labourer. 

Wartime Service

Frances enlisted on 4 September 1918 and joined the Womens Royal Air Force as a Storewoman at No. 4 Stores Depot, R A F Ruislip, Middx.


She died of sickness (unknown) in Hemel Hempstead, Herts on 19 February 1919, aged 22, and is buried in Langleybury (St Paul's) Churchyard.

Frances' grave (not CWGC) is a family grave. Her part of the inscription reads:

FRANCES LOUISA HUDSON,
WHO FELL ASLEEP FEB. 19TH 1919, AGED 23 YEARS
HE GIVETH HIS BELOVED SLEEP
