Royston Town Memorial

Pre War

Born 1878 in Royston, son of Peter and Mary Ann Hoy. Birthplace given as Royston in 1891 census and in SDGW but Great Chishall in 1881 census.


His parents still in Royston in 1911 census, but Albert has not ben found in the 1901 or 1911 census records, probably  he was already serving in Kings Own Liverpool Regiment as there is a record of him being discharged from service on 09 Oct 1913. 

Wartime Service

In Great War he served as sergeant in Kings Own Liverpool Regiment No 34510 and was later transferred to Labour Corps No132137 and was serving with them when he died in Manchester on 22 May 1918, being buried at Manchester Southern Cemetery. He married Florence Augusta Ball on 14 Feb 1915. 


Transferred to (132137) 566th Coy. Labour Corps. this could be because of injury or illness and therefore unfit for fighting duty.
