Pre War

Born in 1893 in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire son of Charles and Mary Louisa Holland and living in Elizabeth Cottages, Hayward Road, Hoddesdon in 1901 and later in 10 Century Road, Hoddesdon and in 15 North Road, Hoddesdon in 1911. He was a gardener and was unmarried.

Wartime Service

He enlisted on 29 Nov 1911 at Enfield and was sent to Cawnpore, India in 1912 where he had a mild attack of diphtheria. He entered France on 18 Jan 1915 and was killed in action near Ypres.

Additional Information

Percy is also commemorated on the family headstone in Hoddesdon Cemetery. His part of the inscription reads:

PERCY CHARLES SON OF THE ABOVE (Charles Holland)
KILLED IN ACTION IN FRANCE
MAY 7TH 1915
