Son of Herbert Alfred and Mary Ann (nee SANDS) HOBART.
His parents married 8 April 1889 at St Matthew’s, Oxhey, Herts. Herbert died 1922 in Watford aged 73, and was buried 11 July in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; Mary died 1954 in Watford aged 92, and was buried 22 July, also in Vicarage Road Cemetery.
Herbert was born 4 October 1890 in Watford, and baptised 20 July 1891 at St Mary’s, Watford. He resided in Watford.
On the 1891 Census, aged five months he lived in Watford, with his parents and one sibling. On the 1901 Census, aged 10 he still lived in Watford, with his parents and three siblings. On the 1911 Census, a Golf Club steward’s assistant aged 20, he still lived in Watford, with his parents and four siblings.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in London; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 13 July 1915, and was killed in action.

There is a brief article about and a Death announcement for Herbert in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 12 May 1917.
Unfortunately, Herbert’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
