Pre War

Born in 1895 in Deptford, Kent son of William and Minnie Hewitt and living in Bell Terrace, Redbourn in 1911. He was a farm labourer.

Later his parents were recorded as living at 4 Council Cottages, South Common, Redbourn, Herts.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at St Albans and was killed in action.  He was initially reported as missing and later assumed killed in action. The newspaper recorded him as in the Northamptonshire Regiment, which we believe to be incorrect.
