Born in 1890 in Common Lane, Sawston, Cambridgeshire son of William Henry and Elizabeth Stanford and living in 4 Bullock’s Lane, Hertford in 1901.
He married Ellen Fletcher in 1910 in Hertford and they lived in 51 Bengeo Street, Hertford. He was a leather dresser and had four children.
Wartime Service
Enlisted at Hertford formerly Private 9/1660, Training Reserve and was killed in action.
Additional Information
Brother of Rifleman Thomas William Stanford who died of wounds on 30 Nov 1917 and is also commemorated on these memorials.
