1911 Census, living in Shenley with parents. Occupation Boot Maker.


Date of enlistment. 11 Sep 1915 living at 11 Camp Lane, The Camp Street, St Albans. Occupation Boot repairer.


He married Ada Winifred Hazeldine, nee Atwell on 18 May 1918 at St Botolph Church, Shenley. Her address was The Chalet, Shenley.

Wartime Service

21 Feb 1915 he was wounded in action and sustained GSW to arm and leg, he was admitted to No.9 Casualty Clearing Station.  after initial treatment was placed on an Ambulance Train back to No. 2 General Hospital.

On 28 Feb 1917 he was shipped back to England aboard H.S. Grantully Castle.

On 7 Jan 1918 he joined the 1st KRRC in the field.

20 Apr - 30 Apr 1918 granted leave to father's address

12 Feb 1919 Admitted to hospital in Boulogne.

Additional Information

After the war his wife was living at 17 Cromwell Place, South Kensington, London Wife's pension from 1 Sep 1919 was 13s 9d per week. Although he married on the 18 May 1918 there is no record of any leave having been given.
