On the 1901 Census, aged 1 he lived in Watford, with his parents and ten siblings. On the 1911 Census, at school aged 11, he still lived in Watford, with his widowed mother and seven siblings.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Bedford; was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and died of wounds received in action.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, Stanley’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
There is an article about and a Death announcement for Stanley in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 12 October 1918; plus an In Memoriam in the issue dated 4 October 1919.
Recorded as STRATTON S S on the Borough Roll of Honour. His brother Sidney died 15 January 1915 and also features on Watford Borough Roll of Honour.
