Pre War

*1 Looking at CWGC, SDITGW and pension records, only this man, Ernest Haynes, has been identified as potentially the man on the Harpenden Town Memorial. However, so far, we have found no connection to Harpenden or Hertfordshire for him. So for the present there is significant doubt at whether he is the correct man.

Ernest was born in Manchester on 07 May 1895, son of Albert and Sarah Haynes, and that he worked as an office clerk in 1911.

Additional Information

Pension records give Sarah Haynes as his mother and livi9ng at 34 Barton Street, Noss Side, Merseyside
