Born in 1887 in Abbey Street, Crewkerne, Somerset son of John Bird and Gertrude (Simeon) Haslock and was living in Poole Hill Road, Bournemouth in 1911 and later in Old Cross House, Hertford. He married Marjory Ellen Cook and they had one son.
Wartime Service
Enlisted as Private 22287 Gloucester Regiment and obtained a commission on 23 May 1915. He entered the Eastern Mediterranean on 28 Aug 1915. He died of wounds on board SS Kildonan, a Hospital ship serving Gallipoli.
