Pre War

Born about 1895, lived with parents James and Sarah in the High Street, Stanstead Abbotts. He had 3 brothers and 3 sisters. His occupation on the 1911 census is Butchers assistant.

Wartime Service

Enlisted in 6th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regt. Killed in action on 15/07/16 attacking village of Pozieres. Charles was one of 25 men listed as missing from the attack. There were 243 casualties from a force of 500.
