Thomas was born in 1894, in Great Wymondley. The son of William Worboy and Elizabeth Worboy (nee Collins).
In 1901 the census records Thomas as ‘Worbey’, aged 5, living with his parents, Brothers William 5, and James 2, in Great Wymondley. Then in 1911 Thomas was ‘Worby’ aged 17, living with his parents, brothers George 16, and James 10, in Great Wymondley. His occupation is given as a Farm Labourer.
Wartime Service
Thomas enlisted in Hitchin. He was posted to the Bedfordshire Regiment with the service number 18720. He trained at the Ampthill Training Depot, Ampthill Park, Beds. He disembarked in France on the 2nd October 1915.
Thomas was Killed in Action on the 11th July 1916, during an attack by his Battalion on Trones Wood, part of the Battle of the Somme. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the missing.
