Son of George Edward and Amelia (nee SHOOSMITH) HARMAN of Luton, Beds; husband of Amy Gertrude Paxton (nee FISHER) HARMAN of Watford.
His parents married 1878 in the Luton district. George died 18 March 1931 in Luton aged 77; Amelia died 7 May 1935 in Luton aged 82.
Frederick was born 1883 in Southampton, Hants, and married 1909 in the Luton district; they had two children. Amy never remarried, she died 1952 in Watford aged 67, and was buried 24 December in North Watford Cemetery.
He has an entry in the National Probate Calendar.
On the 1891 Census, a scholar aged 7 he lived in Luton, with his parents and four siblings. On the 1901 Census, an assistant pawnbroker aged 17, he still lived in Luton, with his parents and four siblings. On the 1911 Census, a pawnbroker’s assistant aged 27, he lived in Watford, with his wife and one child.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Watford, and was formerly Private 8536 and Private 37167 Bedfordshire Regiment.
He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was presumed killed in action.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, Frederick’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
There is an In Memoriam for Frederick in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 16 August 1919.
