Pre War

Eli was the son of Samuel and Georgeanne Davenport and was born in St. Albans on the 1st of October 1890. He went to school at Verlum College in St. Albans and later went to Shaw Street College in Liverpool.


He was a Fitter with Messrs. Leyland's Shipping Company. 


He married Dorothy Piercy of 164, Stanley Park Avenue, Anfield, Liverpool, at St. Saviour's in Liverpool on the 19th of May 1917.


Wartime Service

Eli joined the Transport Section on the 10th of June 1917 after having sailed in the Mercantile Marine since August 1914. 


He was appointed to H.M.T. Jutland and was killed by a torpedo from an enemy submarine off the coast of Spain on the 19th of November 1917.
