Son of George Alfred and Amy (nee TURNER) HARDWICK.
His parents married 1889 in the Leighton Buzzard, Beds, district. George died 1920 in Watford aged 51, and was buried 14 December in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford.
Harold was born 21 December 1896 in Leighton Buzzard. He attended first Callow Land Infants’ School, Watford; then Callowland Board School from 27 January 1902 to 9 December 1910. In April 1912, he was awarded a watch for five year’s perfect attendance at Callowland School.
On the 1901 Census, aged 4 he lived in Leighton Buzzard, with his parents and five siblings. On the 1911 Census, unemployed aged 14, he lived in Watford, with his parents and eight siblings.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Hertford; was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and died at 39 Stationery Hospital of wounds received in action.

Unfortunately, Harold’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
Has a entry in the National Roll of the Great War.
