Pre War
Born on 19 Feb 1870 and baptised on 27 Jun 1870 in Old Charlton, London son of Rev. Hon. John and Caroline Penelope Harbord. Educated at Haileybury College 1884-88. He married Mary Sophy Theresa Singleton in 1893 in All Saints, Knightsbridge, London.
Wartime Service
Joined the Bedfordshire Regiment in1888 and on the outbreak of WW1 he joined the Norfolk Regiment and entered France on 24 Nov 1914. He later transferred to the R.A.F. and died of wounds in Lahore, India.
Additional Information
Uncle of Lieutenant Philip Anthony Assheton Harbord who was killed in action on 1 Dec 1917 and of Captain John Harbord who died of wounds on 10 Jul 1918 in France who are both commemorated on the Haileybury College Memorials.
