Born on 24 Aug 1897 and baptised on 31 Oct 1897 in Little Amwell, Ware, Hertfordshire son of Arthur and Jane Hammond and was living in The Rectory, Much Hadham in 1901 and 1911 and later at Lodge Road, Hurst, Twyford, Berkshire.


He was a gardener and was unmarried.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at Rugby on 9 Sep 1914, entered France on 23 Jul 1915 and was killed in action in France.
