Pre War

Son of Charles and Jane Hammond; husband of Sarah Alice Butterfield (formerly Hammond), of Lynch Hill Bank, Kensworth, Dunstable, Beds. Albert was born in Farnham, Essex, resident of Thorley and enlisted in Bishops Stortford. His home address was Butler's Hall Cottages. He was an agricultural labourer employed by Mr. F. Bird of Hither Farm.

Wartime Service

Before the outbreak of the War he was in the Militia and was called up on August 8th 1914. He went out to France and was killed in the battle of Loos on 25th September 1915.
