Son of the late Amos and Emma Jane (nee ATKINS) HALL.
His parents married 1885 in the Leighton Buzzard, Beds, district. Amos died 1916 aged 49; Emma died 1914 aged 46; both in the Potterspury, Northants, district.
Charles was born 17 October 1887 in Leighton Buzzard, and attended Leighton Buzzard British School from 23 October 1895. He resided in Watford.
On the 1891 Census, aged 3 he lived in Leighton Buzzard, with his parents and one sibling. On the 1901 Census, aged 13 he still lived in Leighton Buzzard, with his parents and one sibling. On the 1911 Census, a greengrocer’s hawker aged 23, he lived in Stoney Stratford, Bucks, with his parents and one sibling.
Recorded as born in Leighton Buzzard, Beds. and was living in Watford when he enlisted in Wolverton, Beds.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Wolverton, Bucks, and was formerly Private 14147 Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry.
He was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 4 December 1914, and was presumed killed in action.

Unfortunately, Charles’ Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
