Pre War

Although the SDITGW states Frederick Wilson was born in Bishop's Stortford, he was actually born on 3 December 1894 in Clerkenwell, Middx to Thomas and Mary Louisa Wilson and they were living at 15 White Lion Street, Islington. He was baptised on  20 January 1895 at St Silas, Pentonville, Islington.


On the  1911 Census where he was living with his family at 30 Netley Road, Walthamstow and working as a Ledger Clerk for a soap manufacturer. 

Wartime Service

He enlisted at Bishop's Stortford and served in the 9th Battalion, East Surrey Regiment and went to France on 12 May 1915. He died of wounds on 10 February 1917, probably at the 35th Casualty Clearing station which was in the town of Bethune until December 1917.

Additional Information

His mother Mary received a war gratuity of £11 and pay owing of £18 3s 8d. She also received a pension of 5 shillings a week from 6 November 1918.
