His parents married 19 May 1883 at St John the Baptist, Aldbury, Herts.
Elizabeth died 1907 in Watford aged 54, and was buried 26 October in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; Thomas possibly died 1940 in Ware, Herts, aged 77, and was buried 3 February at St Mary’s, Ware.
Leonard was born 6 October 1895 in Bushey, Herts, and baptised 15 November 1895 at St Matthew’s, Oxhey, Herts. He attended Alexandra School, Watford, from 2 June 1903 to 24 March 1905 [sic]; then Callowland Board School, Watford, from 10 January 1905 [sic] to 7 October 1909. He resided in Watford.
On the 1901 Census, aged 5 he lived in Oxhey, with his parents and four siblings. On the 1911 Census, a baker’s errand boy aged 15, he lived in Watford.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Watford; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 26 July 1915, and was killed in action during a successful attack on Pommiers Redoubt and ground between Montauban-de-Picardie and Mametz.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, Leonard’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
