The De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour records that Gerald was born in Furneux Pelham on 14 July 1893, and was the sone of Son of Dr. Patrick Gill and Ellen Josephine Griffith, later of "Three Gables", Walton-on-Thames.


He was educated at Pinewood, Farnborough, and Blundell's school, Tiverton.


He joined the Army before the war and was Gazetted Second Lieutenant in the 3rd Hampshire Regiment in September 1911 and promoted to full Lieutenant on 17 January 1914.

Wartime Service

Gerald served with the British Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from the 21st of August 1914 and died on the 26th from wounds received in action
