Herbert was the fifth son of Abraham Wilkerson.


The Soldiers Died In The Great War database records that he was born in Royston, Herts. and he enlisted in Cambridge.

Wartime Service

Formerly 4435, Suffolk Regiment.


He enlisted in the Army in April 1916 and was posted to France in July of that year. He was hospitalised with Enteric Fever, and on recovery volunteered for service in Egypt. After being wounded in March 1918 he returned to France in July that year. He was killed in action on the 16th October 1918.
