Born in 1892 in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia son of Harry and Elizabeth Sarah Gray, and living in 40 Currie Street, Hertford in 1901 and 1911 and later at 65A, Ware Road, Hertford.


He was educated at Trinity College, London where he became a member of staff and an examiner. Organist of St John’s Church, Penge and of Christchurch, Marylebone.

Wartime Service

Enlisted Private 761759 28th London Regiment and obtained a commission in the Royal West Kents. on 18 Dec 1916. He entered France on 7 Feb 1917 and died of wounds.

Additional Information

Brother of 2nd Lieutenant Vivian Gray who was killed in action on 18 Aug 1916 and is also commemorated on these memorials.
