Son of John and Elizabeth Ann (nee ROBINSON) WHITTINGHAM of Watford.
His parents married 1894 in the Watford district. John died 1932 in the Nantwich, Chesh, district aged 67; Elizabeth died 4 October 1938 in Nantwich aged 77.
Harold was born 27 April 1897 in Watford, and attended first Callow Land Infants’ School, Watford; then Callowland Board School from 11 January 1904 to 19 May 1911. He resided in Watford.
On the 1901 Census, aged 3 he lived in Watford, with his parents and no siblings. On the 1911 Census, at school aged 13, he still lived in Watford, with his parents and one sibling.
Wartime Service
He enlisted at Harrow Road, London, and was posted to the 1/4th (City of London) Battalion, London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers); he was formerly Private 3214 3rd London Regiment.
