Pre War

Thomas Edwin Glasscock was born in 1878 in Bishop's Stortford to Edwin and Sarah Glasscock. They lived on the Hadham Road in 1881 and 1891. He married Edith Dickerson in 1906 at Bishop's Stortford. On the 1911 Census he was living with his wife Edith and child, Marjorie, at 41 Hadham Road, Bishop's Stortford and working as a house painter.

Wartime Service

He enlisted at Bishop's Stortford and served in the 2nd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers.


He was killed in action during the Battle of Poelcappelle, Belgium. The weather and ground conditions were dreadful and his body was never recovered.

Additional Information

His widow, Edith, received a war gratuity of £3 and pay owing of £3 3s 6d.
