Pre War

Born on 19 Jul 1890 in Nottingham son of Samuel George and Eliza Maria Gilbert later of 17 Powis Road, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, Lancashire. Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1901-05.

Wartime Service

Joined the Army in 1908 at Preston, Lancashire, entered France at Rouen on 13 Aug 1914 and survived action at Mons and Ypres. He was captured at Hooge probably on 2 Nov 1914 and died in Germany in Güstrow prisoner of war camp from pneumonia.
