Born on 5 Jun 1895 in Cranleigh Court, Guildford son of Major Williams Henry and Denise Caroline (Maire) Waud. Educated at the Imperial Service College, Windsor and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst.
Wartime Service
Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant on 8 Aug 1914 and promoted to Lieutenant on 1 Nov 1914. Entered France on 27 Aug 1914 and was killed in action near Armentieres. He was mentioned in dispatches for “gallant and distinguished conduct at Le Gheer” (London Gazette 17 Feb 1915).

Imperial Service College was formed in Windsor in 1912 and then moved to Haileybury College, Hertford Heath in 1942.
