Pre War
Born on 17 Aug 1885 (or 1888) in Hertford son of Robert and Eliza Game and was living in 19 Church Street, Ware in 1901; brother of Mrs. Ada Barrett of 27 London Road, Ware, Herts. He was a carman.
Wartime Service
Enlisted in the Royal Navy on 8 Jun 1904 and first served on Triumph. He drowned when Vanguard sank. Having survived the Battle of Jutland unscathed, HMS Vanguard came to a tragic end on 9 July 1917 while anchored in Scapa Flow. An internal explosion destroyed the ship, killing 843 of the 845 men on board at the time. It is thought that there was a spontaneous explosion of faulty cordite.
