Pre War
Harold Roy Frost was born in 1885, the son of Harry Stone Frost his wife Elizabeth, and one of three boys. He was baptised on 4 October 1885 at All Saints Church, Dorchester. His father's occupation was given as Hotel Keeper.
On the 1891 Census the family were living at the Kings Arms Hotel, High East Street, Dorchester where his father was the Hotel Proprietor. There were ten servants also living there, 3 bar assistants, chambermaid, waitress, 2 housemaids, nurse, cook and billiard marker. They remained in Dorchester in 1901 but had moved to 16 Charles Street. His father was then an Agent and Harold was a bicycle making apprentice.
He was married to Charlotte Ellen Telford on 16 August 1910 in the Parish Church of Powerstock, Dorset (previously called Poorstock). Harold was then working as a Railway Agent and both he and Charlotte were said to be living in the village, but by the Census the following year, they had moved to West Walks, Dorchester and Harold was working as a Contractor's Manager.
Their son Roy was born in 1912 but died the same year, followed by Eileen (1913), Maureen (1915), John (1916) and Harold (1918).
