Pre War

Born in 1885 in Redbourn, Herts. son of George and Harriett (Cass) Franklin.

He was living in Redbourn in 1901 as a hay binder and was a boarder with his sister Kate and brother-in-law John McGrath in Redbourn as a hay carter in 1911.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at Hertford, formerly 5920 Hertfordshire Regiment and it was reported that he was killed as a result of an "air bomb".  He died of wounds probably in a field ambulance stationed in Brandhoek.

Additional Information

Brother of Private Alfred Franklin who died on 30 Oct 1918 in France and is also commemorated on this memorial.
