Amos Currant was born in 1872 in Markyate (baptised 25 Aug 1875) to Samuel Currant, a labourer, and Elizabeth (nee Morehen). On the 1881 Census the family of parents, Ann (born 1866), Emma (born 1870) and Amos were living in Markyate.

On the 1901 Census the family of parents, Amos were living in Markyate.
He enlisted on 15 Mar 1894 in the Militia as Private 2696 in the 3rd Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment and completed his service in Mar 1900 and married Jane Jeffries on 30 Jan 1902 and they lived at 10, High Street, Markyate.
On the 1891 Census the family of parents, Ann, Amos were living in Markyate (Caddington). Similarly in 1901 Census the family of parents, Amos were living at Markyate.
Amos enlisted on 15 Mar 1894 in the Militia as Private 2696 in the 3rd Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment and completed his service in Mar 1900.
Wartime Service
Amos may have volunteered Sept/Oct 1914 as Private 5458 Bedfordshire Regiment. No Service Record was found for Amos. He was transferred to the Labour Corps as Private 240093. Due to his age he may have served in some Depot position for the Bedfords before Labour Corps service with 433 Agricultural Company, there is no record of Medals which may mean there was no active service.
Amos died on at home on 16 Nov 1917.
Additional Information
War Gratuity of £9 and arrears of £11 14s 2d was paid to his widow.
