Born on 7 Jun 1877 son of the Rev. John Martyr and Mary Thomson (Pollock) Ward of Gressenhall Rectory, Norfolk and baptised there on 5 Aug 1877.


Educated at Haileybury College 1891-96. He was given the Freedom of the City of London in the Clothworkers Company on 8 Jun 1909. He married Audrey Mason of High Elms, Compton, Berkshire in 1914.

Wartime Service

Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant on 24 Jan 1900, Lieutenant 23 May 1901 and Captain 12 May 1906. Killed in action at Gallipoli.
