Pre War

Albert Victor Waldock was born in Ashwell, Hertfordshire in 1885, the son of Alfred Robert and Mary Ann Waldock (nee Bailey). He was baptised on 6 September 1885 at Ashwell.


By the 1891 Census  the family had moved to 31 Brackenbury Road, Finchley, Middlesex where his father was working as a carman van driver. They remained in Middlesex in 1901 but had moved to 2 Butts Cottages, Hansworth. In 1911 Albert was living with his parents at 8 Prince Regent Road, Hounslow, Middlesex and working as a nursery hand. 


He married Violet Maud Knight in 1916 in the registration area of Bromley, Kent and lived at 69 Albany Road, Chislehurst, Kent.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Bexley Heath and joined the London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers), serving with the 2nd Battalion.


Albert died of wounds received in action at the King George Hospital, Stamford Hill, Middlesex, on 5 September 1917, aged 32, and is buried in Chislehurst (The Annunciation) Churchyard, Surrey, United Kingdom.

Additional Information

His widow received a war gratuity of £6 10s and pay owing of  £2 18s 2d. She also received a pension of 13s 9d a week.
