Born on 6 Apr 1888 son of John and Matilda Mary (later Mrs Baden) Stacey, of Hounslow, Middlesex. Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1895-1906 he then worked for the Board of Education.
Wartime Service
Enlisted on 8 Sep 1914 formerly 3112, Private, Seaforth Highlanders 1st/5th Bn. and entered France on 1 May 1915. He rose through the non-commissioned ranks to Regimental Sergeant Major and was awarded the MM for successfully bringing back all his men safely after having been cut off. He was then recommended for a commission, returned to Cadet School and was gazetted 2nd Lieutenant on 17 Dec 1917. He rejoined his old regiment on 12 Mar 1918 the day of the start of the German Spring offensive and was reported missing presumed killed in action.
