Born on 10/01/1884 son of Alfred and Ellen Tyrell, husband of Edith Mary Tyrell, lived at 1 Arthur Curt, Stanstead Abbotts. Worked locally as a labourer.

Wartime Service

Enlisted in Bedfordshire Regiment as Private 29830. Transferred to Royal Fusiliers City of London Regiment, Private 60143. Unit stationed South of Arras in March 1918, Joseph was killed during two days of heavy fighting near the village of Lihons following the German offensive ‘Operation Michael’ on 21/03/1918 which forced the British Army back.
