Leonard Farr was born 1886 in to Joseph Farr and Martha Dell. Leonard's birth was registered as Lennis (Luton, 3b/444). Leonard appears as Levi and Lucius on Census returns.
On the 1891 Census the family of parents, William (born 1869), Mary (born 1875), Alice (born 1877), Joseph (born 1879) and Frank (born 1881), Ellen (born 1889( and Levi (Leonard) were living at High Street, Markyate, Caddington.
On the 1901 Census the family of parents, Mary, Alice, Joseph, Frank, Ellen, Lucius (Leonard) were living at Mount Pleasant, Markyate.
Wartime Service
No Service Record was found for Leonard. Following the outbreak of the Great War Leonard went to France as part of 5 Brigade, 2nd Division on 14 Aug 1914.
He was present at Mons, the rear-guard actions in the retreat from Mons, the Battles of Marne, Aisne, and Ypres. In 1915 he took part in Battles of Festubert (May 1915) and Loos (Sep-Oct 1915). He was killed in action on 17 Apr 1916

War Gratuity of £9 10s was paid to his mother and arrears of £32 9s 6d was shared between his mother, brothers William, Frank, Joseph, and sisters Ellen, Alice and Mary.
Brother Frank serves as Private 8784 in the Bedfordshire regiment from Nov 1914, wounded in Mar 1915 and discharged Jan 1916. Died 15 Apr 1917.
Brother Joseph served bas Private 27747 Bedfordshire Regiment from Feb 1916, wounded right leg and left arm in Sep 1916, discharged with pension as ’Unfit for further service’ on 20 Sep 1917.
