Pre War
Son of Arthur Thomas and Ellen Fundell/Fandell (nee SIMPSON) FARMER; husband of Lottie Pearson (nee COX) FARMER of Watford.
His parents married 1890 in the Luton, Beds, district. Ellen died 4 February 1935 in Cwm, Monmouths, aged 63; Arthur died 9 September 1960 in Ebbw Vale aged 90.
Sidney was born 18 December 1890 in Rickmansworth, Herts, and attended Beechen Grove Board School, Watford, from 1 January 1901 to 26 March 1902. He married 1916 in the Watford district, and was buried 18 November. Lottie never remarried, and died 22 April 1979 in Barnsley, Yorks, aged 90.
He has an entry in the National Probate Calendar.
On the 1891 Census, aged 4 months he lived in Rickmansworth, with his parents and no siblings. On the 1901 Census, aged 10 he lived in Watford, with his parents and three siblings. On the 1911 Census, a colliery labourer above ground aged 20, he lived in Cwm, with his parents and three siblings.
Wartime Service
He joined the Royal Naval Air Service 5 June 1915 for the Duration of the War: a policemen, 5’9″ tall, next-of-kin his wife. He was transferred to the Royal Air Force 1 April 1918.
He served in France from 21 October to 29 December 1915, and was promoted to Chief Mechanic 1 June 1918. He died from pneumonia at Dunfirmline Hospital and is buried in Watford.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY DEAR HUSBAND SIDNEY WILLIAM FARMER. WHO FELL ASLEEP NOV. 11TH 1918, AGED 27.
