Pre War
Harry was born on the 3rd January 1889 in Hatfield Hyde, Herts. The son of George and Hannah Farmer.
He attended Hatfield C of E School from 18th September 1893 to 17th June 1895; he was then transferred to the boy’s school.
The 1891 census shows Harry aged 2 years living with his parents, brother George and sister Emily at New Town Cottages, Hatfield, Herts. And the 1901 census shows Harry aged 12 years living with his parents, brother John in Essendon, Herts.
He Married Clara Hobbs in 1908. They had 4 children, Thomas D, Harry G, William C and Harry J L. In 1911 census records Harry as aged 22 years married with two children, Thomas and Harry, living at 4 The Terrace, Essendon, Herts. His occupation is given as a Farm Labourer.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Hertford, into the 1st Battalion, Hertfordshire Regiment, formerly with the service number 3786 and then 266125.
Harry was killed in action on the 28th April 1918.
