Pre War

George Bradley Fairchild was born in Great Parndon, Harlow, Essex. (Believed to be the son of Julia Sarah Fairchild). He was baptised on 12 June 1902 at St Mary the Virgin, Great Parndon, Essex.


He was living with his grandmother Sarah Fairchild at Church Cottages, Great Parndon, Harlow, Essex on the 1901 Census and continued to live with her on the 1911 Census.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Windsor, Berks and served initially in the 2nd Life Guards under reg. no. 4100. He later transferred to the Guards Machine Gun Regiment.

Additional Information

His grandmother, Sarah, received pay owing of £16 9s 3d which included a war gratuity of £9. The only place that Bradley is spelt without an 'e' is on the CWGC
