Son of the late Henry/Harry William and Emily Rose (nee MESSENGER) TURNER.
His parents married 18 February 1896 at St Andrew’s, Willesden, London. Henry died 10 November 1908 in Watford aged 39, and was buried 13 November in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; Emily died 27 November 1912 in Watford aged 45, and was buried 2 December, also in Vicarage Road Cemetery.
Leslie was born 12 October 1897 in Willesden, and attended Beechen Grove Board School, Watford, from 9 January 1906 to 12 March 1912. He resided in Watford.
On the 1901 Census, aged 3 he lived in Watford, with his parents and no siblings. On the 1911 Census, a schoolboy aged 13, he still lived in Watford, with his widowed mother and one sibling.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Brentwood, Essex, and was formerly Private 2807 Essex Regiment.
He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was killed in action.

Unfortunately, Leslie’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
