Pre War

Alfred Thomas Everett was born in 1894 in Bishop's Stortford to Walter and Martha Everett and baptised on 25 October 1898 at Holy Trinity, Bishop's Stortford. On the 1911 Census, the family were living at 10 Chapel Row, Bishop's Stortford and Alfred was working as coal merchant's labourer.

Wartime Service

Alfred served abroad from 11 November 1914. He also served under Reg, No.  4/6775 in the Bedfordshire Regiment and Bedfordshire Territorial Force. He was killed in Palestine during the Battle for Jerusalem.

Additional Information

His mother Martha received a war gratuity of £14 10s a as well as pay owing of £8 6s 3d. Spelling of Everett varies sometimes as Everitt. Indeed there are two medal record cards indicating the alternative spellings.
